From the Journal of Nick Cupelli:
Sagres, Portugal| May 31st – June 8th, 2015
I showed up in Sagres alone, having taken the train south from Lisbon and then the bus from Lagos. It’s a quiet little town on the southwest coast with few streets and people. The beaches are nestled in coves and bays protected by towering cliff sides, and there is rolling countryside stretching between the towns. I found myself at the Funky Monkey Hostel, which was located nicely away from any bustle of tourists or people. The crew there was on point, the owners had ditched a life of law for surfing, so the vibes were perfect. I spent my time surfing with two of the workers there: Englishmen, Rob Fraser, and Aussie, Tim Nicol. We surfed Mareta Beach everyday. The waves were pretty mellow so it was perfect for shooting my first surf set on my Nikonos V. We also went spearfishing in a little hidden cove that I don’t know the name of. Rob’s girlfriend Mo, joined us for that. It was a rad week.
